After the 1896 revolution Maestro Celidonio Medina became its conductor. The band continues to implement its objective as follows:

  1. To perpetuate the desirable cultural traits of the people through music;
  2. To help financially distressed band members pursue college education through band scholarship grant;
  3. To entice the youth to embrace arts and culture to free itself of emancipation from the drug menace.
Banda Malaya No.I is very lucky to have two of its former conductors who were bestowed the National Artist award by Malacanang, they are: Prof. Lucio D. San Pedro and Prof. Felipe Padilla de Leon.

Among its former conductors were Mr. Daniel Naval, Prof. Felino de Leon, Gen. Elicio Javier, Col. Pedro P. Tolentino Jr., Prof. Leopoldo Medina, Prof. Leopoldo B. Lopez of U.P. is its current Musical Director. He has been with the band since 1953 as french horn player and conductor.
