Congratulations! Mr. Rodney Ambat

Congratulations! Mr. Rodney S. Ambat for an excellent performance held last Saturday, August 14, at 5 pm, at the Grand Atrium of the Shangri-la Plaza Mall.

Rodney obtained his diploma in Band conducting in 1994 and in Orchestra conducting in 1996 at the University of the Philippines College of Music. He will finish his degree majoring in Trombone this year.

As a trombone player, he was a member of the Philippine Youth Orchestra, Manila Youth Symphony Orchestra, U.P. Chamber Orchestra, and the Philippine Symphony Orchestra which was assembled only to accompany international artists like Luciano Pavarotti, Stevie Wonder, Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick.

As a conductor he has conducted the Philippine Youth Symphonic Band several Times in his recital and for some of its performance. These Symphonic bands are trained to perform music written for a full orchestra, and indeed sound like one despite the absence of a string section.

These bands are composed of inspiring young artists who explore and interpret music in the most varied forms with the use of the wide array of musical instruments.

To date, Rodney is in his second year as Lecturer and Director of the U.P. College of Music and is serving as a member of the Board of Trustee and Executive Committee of the Asosasyon Ng Musikong Pilipino Foundation,Inc. (AMP)
