Manalo is one of the most respected violinists in the country for his background as a versatile performer, a student of internationally renowned pedagogue, Ivan Galamian at the Julliard School Of Music, assistant concertmaster of the Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra, concertmaster of the Manila Symphony Orchestra and Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and co-founder along with Sr. Mary Placid Abejo, OSB (Dean of St. Scholastica's School of Music) of the Philippine Research for Developing Instrumental Soloists (PREDIS), from which the MYSO was formed.
